Real Talk: Why You’re Not Getting Engagement (And What to Do About It)
You’re showing up.
You’re posting.
You’re trying the Reels, the carousels, the tips and tricks from “that girl on TikTok”…
But if you’re still asking yourself why you’re not getting engagement on social media, you’re not alone.

The likes?
The comments?
The saves, shares, sales?
Tumbleweed. 😭
So what gives?
Let me gently but firmly say this: It’s probably not you. But it is your content.
Here’s why — and what you can do to change it.
1) You’re Trying to Talk to Everyone
And when you talk to everyone, you end up connecting with no one.
If your captions feel a bit like you’re shouting into the void, it’s likely because they’re not anchored in a specific voice, need, or reader.
How to fix it:
Get ultra clear on your audience. Picture one person (your dream client) and write just for them. Your tone will shift, your captions will feel warmer, and your audience will feel seen.
2) You’re Being Informative… But Not Interesting
Harsh truth? People don’t come to social media for a lecture.
If your posts are all facts, features and bullet-point tips, you’re skipping the human part. The connection bit.
How to fix it:
Wrap your information in a story. Add emotion, real-life examples, even humour. Let people feel something when they see your post—and they’ll engage without being asked to.

3) You’re Not Telling Them What to Do
You’ve posted a great tip. You’ve nailed the graphic. You’ve added a cute emoji.
But… did you tell them what to do next?
Because if you don’t include a CTA (call-to-action), your audience scrolls right past. They need a gentle nudge.
How to fix it:
Add prompts like:
💬 “Have you ever felt like this?”
📥 “Save this for when you need it.”
📲 “DM me the word STRATEGY and I’ll tell you more.”
4) You’re Hiding Behind Your Brand
Here’s the thing — people want to see the real human behind the brand.
Even if your business name is front and centre, your audience is craving that genuine connection. And I get it — showing your face can feel awkward. But I promise, it doesn’t have to mean dancing or pointing at floating text. I’d never ask you to do that (and I certainly don’t).
How to fix it:
Start small. Post a behind-the-scenes snap, show your workspace, or share a quick Story in your own voice. The goal isn’t to be perfect — it’s to be relatable. That’s what builds trust and keeps people coming back.

5) You’re Too Focused on the Algorithm
If your content is based on what you think the algorithm wants (rather than what your audience needs), you’ll always be two steps behind.
How to fix it:
Focus on building relationships, not hacking the system. Serve your current followers really well, and growth + engagement will follow naturally.

So, what now?
